It is an active glucocorticoid that is used for treatment of allergic and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract. It belongs to long-acting drugs with the ability to single dosing. Consumption of glucocorticoids allows reducing the dose or completely abandoning the purpose of systemic corticosteroids.
The therapeutic effect of Rhinocort starts in about 6 hours after taking, a significant improvement in respiratory function observed in a few days. 34% of the applied dose is deposited in the lungs.
It reduces bronchial hyperreactivity, inhibits the early phase of allergic reactions (after prolonged use) and late phase response. Budesonide also reduces bronchial obturation caused by physical effort, cold air and sulfur dioxide.
About 90% of Budesonide is transformed in the liver to metabolites with very low bioactivity. The drug binds with plasma proteins by 86 - 90%, mainly with albumin. It is excreted with the urine (70%) and bile.
In what kind of disease treatment Rhinocort is helpful?
Vasomotor rhinitis;

This drug is used for the treatment of sarcoidosis, in cases of increased resistance to beta-mimetics and in cases of threat of pulmonary edema caused by the toxic effects of chlorine, phosgene and other toxic substances.

Your physician should know whether you have:
Fungal, viral disease of the respiratory system and skin;

Also aphonia is an absolute indication for discontinuation of Rhinocort.
During pregnancy you should use the lowest effective dose of Rhinocort. It is not known whether it gets into breast milk. The drug is contraindicated in children less than 2 years.
How should I take Rhinocort?

Ketoconazole 200 mg which is taken once a day increased concentration of Budesonide in plasma (3 mg as single dose) by 6 times during their concomitant use. When patients used Ketoconazole 12 hours after Budesonide the concentration increased by 3 times. Since the data that would give recommendations about dosing are absent combinations of these drugs should be avoided. If not then you should do the interval between using of those two ingredients. It should also consider the possibility of reducing the dose. Other potent inhibitors such as Itraconazole, also lead to a significant increase active ingredient in plasma.
What should I watch for while taking Rhinocort?
Hoarseness of voice before therapy requires careful consideration because it may increase as a result of treatment.
The drug should be used with caution in patients with tuberculosis, mycosis lungs or respiratory tract viral infection. In the case of pulmonary mycosis is prescribed appropriate antifungal therapy. During withdrawal of oral corticosteroids and transfer to inhalation therapy patients require special attention to the complete restoration of the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal function.
