Absorption of Minocin is disturbed while taking antacids containing aluminum, calcium, magnesium, or iron-containing agents.

While receiving methoxyflurane with Minocin has been noted end-stage renal toxicity. Avoid reception of isotretinoin immediately prior to, at the same time or just after receiving Minocin, because both preparations can cause benign intracranial hypertension.

Simultaneous usage of tetracyclines with ergot alkaloids and their derivatives increase the risk of ergotism.

While Minocin application and within 2-3 weeks after stopping it may develop diarrhea provoked by Clostridium dificile (pseudomembranous colitis). In mild cases discontinuation of treatment and the use of ion-exchange resins (cholestyramine, colestipol) is enough; in serious cases —compensation of fluid, electrolytes and protein loss, the appointment of vancomycin, metronidazole or bacitracin. Do not use medicines which inhibit peristalsis.

What should I watch for while taking Minocin?

By taking antibiotics, you must abide by the rules of reception routine; use the capsules at a fixed time of the day. It is important to maintain a stable concentration of the active substance in the blood during the whole therapy.

Interruption of therapy is unacceptable before the period suggested by your physician. Keep using the capsules even if the symptoms eased and overall health improved. With premature termination of antibiotic therapy there is a risk of bacteria developing resistance to this particular medicine, which leads to the development of chronic, difficult-to-treat illnesses.

In many women emerged unwanted pregnancy, when they took contraceptives and antibiotics.

If you are taking antibiotics and birth control pill together, you must use additional means of protection, for example condoms or other methods (candles, interrupted intercourse, spermicidal ointments and etc.).

The interaction solar rays and antibiotics can result in unpleasant reactions, called photosensitivity or photoallergy (from the word "photo" light). In the both cases, the skin, when substituted to direct sunlight, gets irritated and experience a state of shock.

Watch yourself. The reaction of the organism to various antibiotics can be totally unpredictable. If any "unhealthy" signals from your body appear, see a physician forthwith. Perhaps this is your organism's normal response to Minocin, but may also be an adverse event. Then the medical professional will stop the therapy or replace Minocin.

Please refrain from alcohol. Research indicates that alcohol does not directly affect the action of antibiotics. However it has an influence on the general condition and functioning of the organism which in its turn can reduce or inhibit the effect of medicines or cause serious undesirable consequences. Therefore, during the period of antibiotic therapy trim alcohol intake to a minimum, but it is better to exclude it altogether.

Application of Minocin is often accompanied by symptoms such as drowsiness, fatigue, headache and vertigo. That is why when using it should be prohibited driving a car or the execution of works that require high concentration.
