The main ingredient of Namenda is Memantine. It reduces symptoms of depression, fatigue, and improves the patient's ability to concentrate, improves memory, promotes correction of motor disorders. Namenda has a protective function, adjusting the level of a chemical called glutamate in the brain and it is involved in learning and memory processes. It activates certain chemicals in the brain and as a result certain amount of chemicals (such as calcium which is responsible for storing information) enters nerve cells of the brain. Cells of the brain of people with Alzheimer burn too much glutamate. Namenda helps to regulate the activity of glutamate.
